Game just went final. The Terps won 1-0 on a Boston College own goal off of a deflected shot by forward Jason Herrick in the 77th minute. The Terps controlled this game throughout, but Eagles’ goalkeeper Chris Brown was brillant, making four terrific saves.
One of those saves was on Herrick’s shot in the 77th minute. Herrick had another point blank shot, but Brown came out and managed to deflect the ball to the right. Boston College center back Patrick Chin didn’t react fast enough and put a bad touch on the ball, which ended up in the back of the net.
It was a just result, though Terps coach Sasho Cirovski admitted his team wasn’t as crisp in the final third of the field as they could have been. Also, Boston College made it a point to shut down left midfielder Jeremy Hall, the Terps’ leading scorer, and they did a very good job of that.
In a little bit, Wake Forest will take on Virginia in the second semifinal of the night. The Terps talked about meeting No. 1 and undefeated Wake in the tournament finals earlier this week. Barring a major upset from the Cavaliers, it looks like they’re going to get their chance.
More tomorrow- including a championship Sunday preview.

“Barring a major upset from the Cavaliers”
Which just happened, 3-2 over Wake Forest. I feel a little guilty about wanting Wake Forest to lose to UVA ever since that 4-2 loss in September… But since UMD is into the championship game, I’m not going to let it bother me
