At practice anyway. The fifth-year quarterback began throwing in today’s practice for the first time since injuring his thumb in the season opener against Delaware. Steffy hit his thumb on the helmet of a Delaware defender in the third quarter, tearing a ligament from Steffy’s thumb bone.
“He threw the ball today for the first time, which I think was a positive,” coach Ralph Friedgen said. “This is the first day he’s been able to grip a ball, so we’ll see where he’s at.”
But Friedgen was unclear about a possible return date for Steffy. Offensive coordinator James Franklin did not sound optimistic and said Steffy will need surgery once the season is over.

I’m glad Steffy is getting back to his form. I was a huge Sunshie fan but i think he needs a little bit more competition to spice up his game. He needs to be scared that he might lose his job so he can play better. Portis doesn’t count because he can’t memorize the plays. It is either run to the left, right, or up the middle and when he does get plays from Franklin, he brings out his cheat-cheat like he did last year.
